the real and honest answer is: No. we have built a mythos of expectations around this company that they can never live up to. i think itll be good, if not one of their best. but no it wont live up to OUR hype

I never got on the hype train for Starfield because I am not a sci-fi girly. I have always been more into fantasy. That said, after the lackluster reviews of Starfield, my expectations for TESVI have dropped significantly. I don’t know if Bethesda can reach the heights that they did before, and to be honest, I am okay with that. I can always go back and replay Skyrim, and the modding community ensures there will always be something new to enjoy.

Not the pinnacle? Tell me another new action sandbox fantasy rpg...... The saving grace of skyrim is that it was made in a period were games were still good.

After Starfield fail, i would say don t get your hopes up.

Bethesda and their 'Creation Engine' are dysfunctional, and no amount of hype by Tod Howard can fix the situation. So ES6 is going to be another dud, it's just that simple. Now you can 'hope for the best' if you chose... But I'm not planning on buying ES6. A friend bought Starfield for me and I played it enough to experience it's limitations. So I'm no longer interested in Bethesda and thier games.

im not worried, i have accepted the fact its going to be terrible, but we wont even see it for another 5-10 years anyway. I doubt Bethesda will still be there that long

Expect the worst and maybe youll be plesently suprised if it comes out good. As long as it has a good gameplay loop, the modders will fix the rest. Also bethesda's paid mod scandal of summer 2024 shows that they havent learned thier lesson. Tod needs to either do some mushrooms and rethink his life or hire someone more competent

I mean this is simple : if you do an really good game as skyrim, you will continue selling it decades after its release... So why don't focus on the game... But I want to give a last chance to bethesda. The fact that there is no communication on the development of the game is good. Focus on the cooking...

I cant believe people fell for Starfield, ive been saying they needed to ditch that gake engine after New Vegas. Bethesda never learns, theres no reason to trust them.

Look on the bright side: if it’s not good, then in a couple of years the community will turn it into the best game ever created. And if it is good the community will still turn it into the best game ever created.

Fallout 4 was trash conpared to the old ones amd 76 and starfield were so abysmally bad that we all look at fallout 4 like ot was a good game. In reality bethesda has been dead for over an entire decade. Im the biggest hethesda fanboy but we need to be real and acknowledge theyre done making good games.

Bethesda has fallen off. Everything they're released recently has been mid at best. Where as before the jank was due to ambitious scope, now its due to laziness. I do not believe Bethesda in its currents state is capable of doing ES6 justice.

Something interesting to me is that when Skyrim came out it was in no way perfect. it was buggy as shit on launch...they just fixed a lot of the issues. it just sounds like the bugginess on launch thing has gotten 10x worse for new games in the last decade. I STILL HAVE HOPE

i was so hyped for es6 but after playing starfeild i immediately lost faith in Bethesda. Ill still buy it though to see if they can prove me wrong.

Creativity is frozen for now. The focus is now on how many white people there are in a game. And they are counted by people that don't like white people.

I still play Skyrim now. I think it's one of the best games ever made! I love sci-fi. But I have zero interest in Starfield. It feels empty, soulless. As if the game was an after thought at the end of a long meeting..

Masterpiece is a word overused to the point of being meaningless. This game was surprising only in being so totally average except for its unusual prettiness and terrrible dialogue.

ive never cared for the skyrim franchise ive only ever cared about fallout and i am not ready for fo5 at this point just give the ip to obsidian and watch them take 2 weeks to make a better fnv mk2

The next game will be a disappointment. Especially to players that mod skyrim. Its impossible to trump that. All we can hope is to have a decent game that can be modded into the future.

Skyrim had no activism in it...I doubt that a company owned by Microsoft will be able to steer clear of SBI and all the failures (like ppl like me not buying the game, like I didn't buy Starfield, or TLoU2, or Spiderman 2, or the heaps of trash that activists are churning out in the dead skin suits of our IPs) so I guess we have FromSoftware, and (hopefully, but not looking good) CDPR...everything else sucks.

Skyrim was a continuation of what we got in es4 and 3, I’d even say it was a step back from the rpg mechanics we got in oblivion (skyrim is one of my favourite games of all time though don’t get it twisted, but it isn’t as ground breaking and innovative as you’re saying it is). And Starfield isn’t some trash game. you can still get hundreds of hours out of it and it has a lot of genuinely fresh feeling experiences. It does have its problems but over time I think players will come around (ex. Fallout 4 initial release). To me, I don’t think es6 should be some crazy new approach to elder scrolls. Expand on what we had in the last few games, updated graphics and game mechanics, expand the lore. That’s all I ask

Asking Bethsoft today to make ES6 as good as Skyrim ES5 would be akin to asking Metallica to write an album on par or better than Master of Puppets... today. GOOD F*CKING LUCK

I didn't know there as an ES6 in the pipeline. As intrigued by this news as I am, after hearing about it, I must confess that I've never been one of those "early adapter" types. I always wait a few years before jumping in. Presumably, the bug fixes and additional content gets added in by that time (sometimes).

I have to admit, what Im waiting MUCH much more for than TES VI is Skywind. For me nothing ever even got close to Morrowind - I think that volunteerbased Fan Project is going to be far better than anything Bethesda can come up with these days
