    It's absoolutely going to fall short. This game has over a decade worth of hype train at this point. There is no way it could meet expectations with that fact alone. Couple it with the fact that Bethesda is going to cash grab the SHIT out of this game with Creation Club and useless DLC like they did with Fallout 4... My hopes aren't very high, man.

    Ima be honest they fucked up skyrim and we didnt realize it. They cut so much great content instead of finishing it. Starfield was a good game it was just a new style for them so i did expect it to be not the best. Fallout isnt my favorite skyrim is. But es6 i am very excited for. I am sad to hear they only started working on it after starfield. I wish they woulda at least had a team starting it 5 years ago when they announced it but i dont know what they are doing. Im excited to see es6 whether its trash or not. I want new lore and gameplay. Hell it they redid the graphics and made the cities larger and just give us a conclusion to the civil war in a Skyrim Remastered id be VERY VERY Happy.

    I don't understand the hype around BG3, it literally didn't introduce anything new that I didn't see in many RPGs in the last 25 years. Starfield was at least fun to me for certain time.

    99% of games don’t get finished? 14,000 were released on Steam last year. That would mean more than 1.25 million were started and not finished in the same time?

    Comparing Skyrim to BG3 is like comparing a horse to its shit. Skyrim is the clear horse. To all the loser wining about Starfield- I have a few words: It is YOUR fault. You constantly rush them, whining when their next game doesn't come out a year after their last. You rush them, which rushes Microsoft, which rushes Bethesda even more. It happened with SM2, also. It happened with Starfield, and we better pray it doesn't force GTA 6 to release unfinished.

    Also something to keep in mind. If you reeally want a feature but doesn't actually improve the game and will be equally good without it, you can always use that mechanic for a separate standalone game or even a sequel. Write the idea down then move on. Otherwise, from experience, you'll spend 10 years moving project to project!

    imagine the new story writers ...(worst case scenerio if they are woke)....rejects all the complex cosmology, lores and world buildings of the previous game ...say all those are non canon...and set their own cow dung universe with no complexity and no appropriate diversities.......I will reject that game completely and will consider such game never happened....and will probably cry

    Funny enough, the prototype section is exactly what I do. Was getting ready to say my plan in the comments, then you stole my words. My dream game has a gigantic minimum scope, and so there's a LOT of games I plan to make to learn those skills and gain that funding. Even then, there are things I'm already wanting to make that would amplify that scope significantly. My thing is to add a timeline. I can always make updates and dlc later, so I can add those things to the post-launch list.

    Unfortunatly i've seen tons of videos like this: While these tips are all valid, they are still not sufficient to bring you as a game developer to the point where you realize your dream game. In my experience, i worked and studied for 12 years programming languages and engines (Python, Lua, UE4 and my current best choice: Godot4) and still i get noting in my hands. I can make all the small game I want, but everything is an enormous time spending process that gived me totally different things confronted to my unique motivation: A 4x fantasy game with hundreds of characters and spells. My soulution: I just wait. Technology is still too premature to try making big projects alone, and we are in the generative AI era. AI is a poison for the world, and still is the best thing that can happen for a solo developer like me that needs a better brain to not spend 1 month to create just the save/load system of a game. Thanks.

    If we’re honest, no it probably won’t live up to the hype because people will always love Skyrim and dislike the things that TES6 does differently. I think we should be focussed on it being a good game on its own and not if it lives up to its predecessors

    Yeah, passion =/= effeciency unfortunately. Ive been working as a solo dev during my off time for 3 years now, and I'm absolutely guilty of scope/feature creep. I finally settled on a bare minimum design, but upon reviewing my previous GDDs from over a year ago...man were they 200 too many pages. Even with the final Game Design Doc (out of 10) it is still somewhat bloated, but thankfully its just story and art asset bloat as the TDD (Technical Design Document) is drastically simplified. If I hadn't bashed my head against that wall for years, I wouldve settled on UE4 which had just transitioned to UE5, which isnt the best for a 2D title. The second year I was eying Unity, then that ship sank as well. Then GB Studio came up, it wasnt my final choice; BUT, this was an eye opener as its where I realized what feature creep was, and it forced me to reel-back the scope and focus on what design I could fit into less than 2mb. The final results were still a mess and not worth anyones time, (it was an absolute disaster) but it helped me understand effeciency and simplification as a developer. With new lessons in mind, I've found both the perfect style and engine to use. As I'm more proficient at 64x64bit pixel art, I can pump out a levels worth of art assets in a couple of days, and Godot's component system has been an absolute dream in setting up flexible values to be re-used, rather than having 6-10 seperately designed systems that all do the same thing on paper. Its not the dream game I had in mind so far, but honestly...as long as one stranger has fun with it, that will make it worth everything thats going into it.

    Nothing is permanent, it’s not only probable but likely that Bethesda and many of our favorite game studios cease to exist in our lifetime. That’s just how things go. Remember to keep your excitement in check and make responsible fiscal decisions. Buy the game if it’s worth your money not for the name.

    I remember quitting the game from boredom because the map was locked by a long story progression, the NPCs felt like low effort copy pasting, the gun fights didn't have much weight to them, the loot was an absolute mess (a ton of RNG just for all the guns to feel the same), the netrunning felt too simple and boring (felt like a worse version of WatchDogs), and the story felt too all over the place just to create action packed scenes but without sufficient investment in either the story, setting or characters, the world was also annoying to look at (just childish sex jokes/oversaturation which added to the low effort, low budget feel of the world).

    “Start small” is the absolute best advice u can give and ill tell u why when i decided to be a game dev it was in preschool and back then the most advanced game i had my fingers on was GTA VC so i wanted to make this huuge 3d game with weapons wielding dinosaurs and some crazy stuff like that but life happened and i forgot about it until i was 17 when i went to software university i started working on a 3d game which i gave up 1 year later and decided to do something else so as an athlete i did what a lot of athletes do and that is go back to the basics so for a whole month i was making games with scratch not publishing nothing just make them play them from start to finish polish them as much as possible and on to the next after that 1 month i built myself a “roadmap” and it goes like this 2d platformer, 2d topdown, 3d topdown and 3d open world i think that was a great refresher to lay back a lil and get my brain going in the proper direction i am 24 now and im still working on the roadmap cuz currently im on the 3d topdown and i think its been really great help starting small EDIT: i totally forgot to mention that i had to learn unity, ue, blender, aseprite, photoshop and like 10 more different things from scratch so if u feel overwhelmed by how much work there is as a solo dev feel free to buy assets or labor from other ppl that is not against the “rules” for a solo dev and if u are like me and want everything done by u just know that patience is the mother to success and u can do it even with a full time job bcuz i worked in construction while i was making the games and i was also hitting the gym 5 days a week just know that its gonna suck a lot but if u are patient, disciplined and consistent u will achieve it

  • @lpfan4491
    @lpfan4491 4 дні тому

    The best idea is always to first stick with the core of the experience and then when you have a 1.0-worthy thing you can start scope creeping if you really want to. It holds its own potential issues like the launch content and the post-launch content not feeling the most cohesive or having to redo some work if you say, add a new skill that can break the existing design. However, dealing with and solving those problems is still better than overdesigning your first draft and manifesting no game at all. "Perfect is the biggest enemy of done" and stuff like that. If you don't want to finish the bossrush update, barely anyone can blame you because it was always going to be a bonus anyways.
